Universities and Sustainability Reporting: Getting Ahead of the Curve

While most Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) are not yet legally required to comply with the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), many are already engaging in sustainability reporting. Their motivations vary: some are preparing for future obligations, others are taking a voluntary approach, and many recognize the potential benefits, such as increased student engagement, improved institutional reputation, or stronger partnerships with industry.

To support HEIs in this process, the European University Association (EUA) has recently published a flyer highlighting the advantages of sustainability reporting and offering practical guidance for implementation.

GET-AHED

Our project GET-AHED is currently developing a self-assessment tool focused on environmental sustainability, along with targeted training materials and examples of good practice. These resources are designed to help universities take meaningful steps toward sustainability and strengthen their reporting capacity.
