GET-AHED abstract accepted for WSSD-U 2026 in Innsbruck

The GET-AHED project will be represented at the 7th World Symposium on Sustainability in Higher Education (WSSD-U 2026), taking place on 3–4 September 2026 in Innsbruck, Austria. The abstract has been officially accepted under the conference theme “From Knowledge to Action: Developing Core Competencies in Sustainable Development.”

The contribution presents the University Greening Toolbox, developed within GET-AHED (2023–2026), which supports higher education institutions (HEIs) in assessing, strengthening and operationalising sustainability across their core missions. While research and European policy frameworks highlight the key role of HEIs in achieving climate neutrality, sustainability practices and reporting remain uneven across Europe. Existing self-assessment tools often lack holistic coverage.

In response, the University Greening Toolbox combines a comprehensive self-assessment toolkit with targeted trainings and case studies. It was developed through a participatory methodology integrating theory-guided frameworks, systematic reviews, co-creation with European HEIs and multi-stage evaluation.

The abstract was authored by Verena Régent (WPZ Research), Beate Pawle (FHV – Fachhochschule Vorarlberg) and Verena Liszt-Rohlf (FH Burgenland). Participation in WSSD-U 2026 will further support knowledge exchange and dissemination of GET-AHED results within the international sustainability in higher education community.
