Launching Usability Testing for the GET-AHED University Greening Toolbox – November 2025

We are glad to announce that end of November, we are launching the final usability test for the GET-AHED University Greening Toolbox – a European Commission-funded online platform designed to support Higher Education Institutions across the EU in implementing the European Green Deal priorities.

Platform Overview:

The University Greening Toolbox integrates three evidence-based tools to facilitate institutional green transition:

🔍 Tool 1: Self-Assessment Toolkit
An interactive evaluation framework enabling institutions to systematically assess their sustainability performance across six critical dimensions: Organisational Management, Operations, Education and Curricula, Research Development and Innovation, Community and Outreach, and Assessment, Reporting and Evaluation. Each dimension comprises a set of indicators that allow self-assessing HEI-performance on a 5-point scale.

📚 Tool 2: Training Resources for the Green Transition
A comprehensive collection of interactive training modules mapped to the six capacity-building pillars of the European Green Deal: Climate Action, Circular Economy, Green Finance, Just Transition, Research & Innovation, and Skills & Education. These modules (ranging from 20-40 minutes) provide targeted professional development for HEI Leadership, Faculty Staff, and Students.

📖 Tool 3: Case Studies Repository
A curated database of selected case studies documenting successful green transition initiatives from institutions across Europe. Examples include green laboratory practices, sustainable travel initiatives, energy consumption reduction strategies, and institutional awareness campaigns – providing actionable models for implementation.

📍 Already Road-Tested

During the GET-AHED conference, two usability tests with external HEIs from all over Europe were conducted and the feedback was used for iterative platform development. The University Greening Toolbox successfully completed its roadshow presentation at the GET-AHED Conference in Cork, Ireland (October 20-21, 2025), where we received valuable preliminary feedback from academic stakeholders, institutional leaders, and sustainability practitioners, and will now undergo a final usability test before its release in early 2026.
